For some reason we've taken a ton of pictures since their 8 month bday only a few weeks ago so there are lots attached here :)
We're happy to report that the girls are doing really really well! They are growing up fast though. Both are sitting up all by themselves and Kylie is just about crawling. She can move forward on her tummy really well... she just needs to be able to move her hands one at a time along with the knees and she'll have it. She currently does baby yoga (downward facing dog and plank position) along with getting up on her knees and hopping to get where she wants to go! Caelyn is loving sitting up and has the cutest way of rocking whenever there's any music playing, but she doesn't have much desire to be on her tummy or crawl. She does, however, LOVE to be on her feet and to bounce up and down :)
Other than when they're teething or sick they are super happy little girls. They LOVE attention and for you to make them laugh. They are really starting to notice each other and to interact with one another. We often play games with the 2 of them and they make each other laugh. We also often sit them across from each other to play and they have already started stealing toys. They can be holding the same toy as each other, but still want the one in the other one's hand. It's too funny! For some reason they want to put each other's head in their mouths so they are always trying to get a hold it. EVERYTHING goes in the mouth at the moment, but I can't understand why they go for the head and not the hand or something!
Kylie has started babbling words and Caelyn loves to screech as loud as she can. Caelyn also loves to suck on her big toes. We call Kylie "scooter wiggles" because she never sits still and Caelyn "screechlyn" because she loves the sound of her own voice :)
They've both been teething quite badly (fevers, ear aches, disrupted sleep, itchy gums, etc). Caelyn has her 2 bottom teeth, but Kylie has yet for any to break through. Caelyn's 2 little teeth are super cute, but you have to watch out because she bites hard!!
We had a nasty tummy bug take a run through the house a few weeks back and boy was that ever tough. Andy was bed bound and I was left with 2 VERY sick little girls. They were miserable and had it coming out both ends. I didn't have enough hands to comfort them let alone stay ahead with the cleaning. I wish it would have only been a 24 hour bug, but we got unlucky this time and although it was only really bad for 48 hours the bug lasted over a week in total. That's the only time they've been sick and I'm hoping it doesn't happy again for a very long time!
Sleep training has worked well and they now go to sleep much easier. We still give them a pacifier (dummy) or 2 if they really cry, but they are getting pretty good at putting themselves to sleep. They move all over their cots, turn on their tummies, and moan a little before going down, but it's a huge improvement. Our problem now is that they wake up in the night crying a lot and wanting their dummy. Any suggestions or advice on how to make that stop would be MUCH appreciated. I'm pretty sleep deprived right now and am dying for a good night's rest!
I started the girls on chicken 2 weeks ago and the introduction went well.. no tummy trouble or anything. Caelyn eats her solids beautifully, but since the tummy bug Kylie has become very fussy and often refuses to eat. She'll close her mouth tight, shake her head and sometimes even spit at you. She's a real character that little one! Because she lost so much weight with the tummy bug we were catering to her, but she started to only want to eat fruit so we're now having to be a bit tougher. Any advice here on how to get her to eat everything again would also be much appreciated. The weight spread between the girls just keeps getting bigger so we'd like to find a way to get Kylie to eat more... she barely eats anything and she's SO busy that she never stops moving for a second. Last time we had them weighed which was before this flu they were 8.8kg and 7.7kg.
Ok I better run and make some dinner! We are, as always, sending lots of hugs and love to all our friends and family that are far away. We miss you!!!
